If you imagine a paralyzed, expressionless face when you think of neurotoxin injectables, you’re behind the times. Today’s injectables are much different, particularly when your clinician is especially skilled.
The staff at Sky Vein & Aesthetics, led by Dr. Danny Harrison, offers unparalleled skill and can help you achieve the look you want, without sacrificing your unique and beautiful expressions. Many of our patients struggle to decide between the giant of the industry, Botox®, and the more refined, but less well-known product, Xeomin® (pronounced “Zee-O-men”).
All about Botox
When it comes to injectable treatments, Botox is certainly the most well-known. You may even have heard other injectable neurotoxin treatments referred to as Botox, much like some people call any disposable tissue a Kleenex®. Because Botox is in great demand, most spas and med clinics offer Botox.
The reason that Botox works is one of its main ingredients: botulinum toxin type A. This neurotoxin blocks nerve signals from your brain to your wrinkle-causing muscles, preventing them from contracting and creasing your skin. Essentially, those muscles are temporarily paralyzed, reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
All about Xeomin
In many ways, Xeomin is the same as Botox. There are some differences, though. Xeomin doesn’t contain the additives and other extra ingredients that Botox contains. Xeomin is “naked” and experts consider it the purest injectable. This gives Xeomin an advantage for persons with skin sensitivities as there are fewer proteins to interact with the body. It’s safer and easier to use over the long-term.
Many people also note that Xeomin tends to provide faster, more long-lasting results.
Some people are allergic to the additives in Botox. If you are, or if you’re sensitive and think that it’s a possibility, Xeomin is a good alternative. There are also people who build up a tolerance to Botox because of the additives, and that’s less likely to happen with Xeomin. You may also find that you have faster results that last longer with Xeomin as compared to Botox.
Making a choice
You may want to try Botox and later try Xeomin to see which product you prefer. You may want to discuss your particular situation and goals with Dr. Harrison and take his thoughts under advisement. Whichever you choose, it’s useful to know that Xeomin has been established as an effective alternative to Botox.
Xeomin and Botox require similar dosages, so the most important factor is your preference. When it comes to results, the skill of your doctor makes all the difference. And, at Sky Vein and Aesthetics you have no reason to be concerned. Dr. Harrison is a skilled expert.
