The name of the game in aesthetics these days is nonsurgical rejuvenation. Why cut and stretch sagging skin, subjecting your entire body to stress and trauma and a long recovery period? With the latest FDA-cleared aesthetic devices, you can improve the quality and tightness of your skin without scalpels, sutures, or months of waiting to see your results.
At Sky Vein and Aesthetic in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Dr Danny Harrison is pleased to offer the latest development in rejuvenating plasma pens, the Subnovii Plasma Pen by Cartessa™ Aesthetics. How does the Subnovii plasma pen work, and how does it rejuvenate your skin? We break it down for you here.
First, what is plasma?
The plasma in plasma pens has nothing to do with the plasma in PRP. Plasma in PRP refers to the liquid portion of your blood. But in physics, plasma is a highly charged ionized gas that contains about the same number of positive ions and electrons.
The Subnovii Plasma Pen uses a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen to create an arch of plasma that discharges onto your skin. The plasma heats and contracts your skin. The Subnovii pen itself, however, never touches you.
How plasma tightens your skin
The Subnovii is the first plasma pen to use low-frequency (LF) energy plus a patented wavelength and power combination. When the plasma heats your epidermis (the exterior of your skin), it removes oxygen, desiccating the top layer of cells. That triggers a healing process. The heat also immediately causes your skin to contract, instantly tightening it.
The plasma-generated heat doesn’t stay on the surface, though. It reaches down into the dermis — the layer just beneath the epidermis. There, the Subnovii instigates fibroplasia. That’s why treatment with the Subnovii is also referred to as“fibroblasting,” or “fibroblast therapy.”
Fibroplasia is the process your skin uses to increase the activity of fibroblasts, which produce collagen. Collagen is a long-strand protein that forms the support system of your skin. As you age, it breaks down, and your skin forms wrinkles and sags.
By triggering healing processes both on the epidermis and within the dermis, the Subnovii Plasma Pen forces your skin to repair itself, creating newer, stronger skin. After a Subnovii treatment, your skin produces more:
- Hyaluronic acid
Studies have shown that collagen production continues for up to a year after just one Subnovii treatment.
A plasma pen that’s six years in the making
The Subnovii utilizes a technology that’s superior to those of other plasma pens. The technology took six years to develop, test, and perfect.
Unlike single-wave pens that use either high- or low-frequency energy pulses, Subnovii generates a dual pulse. The dual pulse makes it possible to gently, yet effectively, treat both the epidermis and the dermis simultaneously.
The Subnovii doesn’t overheat the dermis or the epidermis. You get precise, even, predictable results. The Subnovii is so effective that many people only need one treatment to improve or erase their:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Sun spots and age spots
- Creases and folds
- Sagging skin
You can treat a single problem area or your entire face and neck. Use the Subnovii plasma pen wherever you want to improve the quality, look, and strength of your skin.
Instant results that keep on improving
Unlike many other non-invasive rejuvenation techniques, you see immediate improvements with the Subnovii plasma pen. The heat causes instant skin contraction, which means that directly after your treatment you’ll notice that your skin looks and feels tighter.
The improvements continue as your skin rebuilds itself with new collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid over the next months. You may need a series of treatments to get the results you want. However, many people are satisfied with just one pass of the Subnovii plasma pen.
