The RHA Filler Collection offers a new approach to the aging face: fillers that are FDA-approved to smooth dynamic wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles are those that form whenever your face is moving during repeated facial movements such as smiling, frowning, laughing, and crying. Examples are smile lines, forehead wrinkles, crows’ feet, and lip lines. Each new RHA® filler is designed to be resilient enough to adapt to your facial movement, which may provide a more natural look at rest and in motion.  By contrast, static wrinkles are visible even when your face is at rest. Left untreated, dynamic wrinkles can become static. By treating dynamic wrinkles, we now have an option to improve areas often in motion.

What does RHA stand for?

RHA stands for “Resilient Hyaluronic Acid,” meaning that these hyaluronic acid fillers retain integrity better after being stretched, bent, and compressed. The RHA® Collection is made with a gentle manufacturing process that preserves the natural structure of the hyaluronic acid, allowing it to more closely resemble the natural hyaluronic acid in your skin. This resilience helps it better adapt to your facial movements and last longer (up to 15 months).

How is RHA filler different from other hyaluronic acid fillers?

RHA differs from other currently available fillers in several ways. Most notably, the RHA Collections is FDA-cleared to treat dynamic wrinkles as opposed to simply replacing lost volume, which is the purpose of some other filler types.  Previously, only neurotoxins like Botox, Xeomin and Dysport were specifically FDA-approved for treatment of dynamic wrinkles. Secondly, because of its long-chain hyaluronic acid formula, RHA filler may last up to 15 months, where most other HA filler dissolves after about 12 months or less. Lastly, due to the formula being so closely aligned with the body’s natural HA, RHA filler may lead to less post-treatment swelling in some patients.

RHA fillers are designed to treat different areas of the face.  For example, RHA 2 is ideal for giving lips a natural, fuller look, even when smiling.

Does This Filler Replace Neurotoxins like Botox/Xeomin/Dysport?

RHA works differently.  While both help smooth dynamic wrinkles, RHA filler smooths by rebuilding lost volume in tissue.  Neurotoxins stop dynamic wrinkles by limiting the movement of the muscles that create the wrinkle. Neurotoxins help stop wrinkles from worsening and can help the filler last longer by limiting movement. RHA will replace lost volume that neurotoxins alone cannot do.  By choosing both, you get more complete results when it comes to treating dynamic wrinkles. Some may prefer RHA due to the longer lasting results, but we encourage using both for best results.

So, is this collection for me?

RHA filer may be for you if the idea of a more natural product and results appeals to you.  RHA filler may last up to a few months longer that other fillers. We encourage patients to work with a medical doctor to choose an injectable that is most likely to achieve the results you want, whether it’s a botox-type injectable or hyaluronic acid-based filler. Each injectable works differently, and each patient’s unique anatomy dictates which products work best to treat signs of aging. At Sky Vein & Aesthetics, all patients first meet with Dr. Danny Harrison to consult about concerns and expectations before he performs any services.
