Do you want skin rejuvenation with little to no downtime? The CoolPeel is a CO2 laser treatment that is performed in a series to gradually result in skin rejuvenation.  CoolPeel delivers laser energy in short pulses with minimal damage to surrounding tissues. This stimulates skin rejuvenation by causing micro-injuries that initiates the healing process, producing new collagen and elastin.

At Sky Vein & Aesthetics, in Bowling Green, Ky,  Danny Harrison, MD offers CoolPeel treatments to address signs of aging.

What’s a Coolpeel ?

CoolPeel is an innovative and effective way to uncover the fresh skin hiding behind dull or damaged skin. CoolPeel is a skin resurfacing treatment that uses a CO2 lasers. Dr. Harrison directs the short, pulsating light beams to penetrate the skin. Gently removing layers of dead skin helps generate the growth of collagen and elastin. Collagen keeps your new skin firm, and elastin sustains your skin’s ability to bounce back.

Traditional laser peels are typically uncomfortable, even painful for many people. Fortunately, Coolpeel has the advantage of being both safe and comfortable, making it a more desirable treatment. With a CoolPeel laser, your skin does not noticeably peel off (unlike a chemical peel) making downtime a breeze.  CoolPeel generally requires no numbing and no downtime. Dr. Harrison may use a numbing cream if your skin is sensitive, but that is rarely needed.

What happens after the treatment?

Whereas regular skin resurfacing can take up to two hours to treat your entire face, CoolPeel may take as little as 15 minutes. After your treatment, the treatment area will be red like a mild sunburn. Over the next five days or less, the area may feel like sandpaper, but it is usually not noticeable and makeup is permitted. Meanwhile, you’re free to return to work or run errands, though caring for your skin after laser resurfacing means avoiding sun exposure and keeping the area moisturized.

When can I get a CoolPeel?

Anytime you’re ready to get healthy, younger looking skin, schedule a series of CoolPeel treatments. The cooler months of the year are ideal to start these treatments because sun exposure prior to treatment can cause unwanted pigmentation problems. After your treatment, it is important, as always, to use sunscreen daily.

Am I a candidate?

Like other CO2 laser treatments, it’s generally most effective and safest on light to medium skin tones. Deep and very rich skin tones may experience damaged skin from a CO2 laser treatment, possibly causing uneven skin tone, which can be permanent. For those with darker skin, similar results may be achieved through microneedling.

Understand that this is a medical procedure, and choosing a provider who is experienced in and trained in use of multiple types of lasers is as essential as the treatment itself. Dr. Harrison is a board-certified surgeon who is well-versed in aesthetics and able to offer patients comprehensive care.
